DEFTONES Participate In RE*Generation Program to Help Teens At Risk
March 23, 2007DEFTONES are one of the participating artists in Virgin Mobile's RE*Generation program to help teens at risk. DEFTONES have donated an instrumental version of "Hole In the Earth", as an exclusive ringtone available only at this location. 100% of the royalties generated from sales of the ringtone will be donated to this pro-social initiatives program aimed at building awareness of vital issues surrounding teen homelessness. In addition, an exclusive interview with DEFTONES bassist Chi Cheng about his own pro-social activities is available at this location.
DEFTONES recently rolled out the dates for the band's spring U.S. tour, which will begin on May 11 in Phoenix, Arizona. Shows are confirmed through late June so far, with THE FALL OF TROY and Japanese act DIR EN GREY coming along as support. With five albums under their belts, DEFTONES DJ Frank Delgado told Launch that the band tries to give fans a well-balanced set list every night. "You know, I think we try and bring a good mix," he said. "There's a lot of catalog there nowadays to delve into, so the hard thing is, you know, if we're doing an hour and a half set, is trying to get everything across without being, you know, selfish and not playing songs that we know they wanna hear but then wanna play songs that we wanna play, you know, so I think we do it well. It's kind of like our records: they're all over the place and that's kind of how the sets are, you know."
The California-based group has just released "Mein" as the second single from its fifth album, "Saturday Night Wrist", which arrived this past October.
DEFTONES were forced to postpone the last three shows on its latest U.K. tour after singer Chino Moreno was stricken with a ear and throat infection. The dates have been rescheduled for mid-April.
